Boot problem

by tah1987 . Updated 17 years, 5 months ago

So, My laptop had it’s power supply cut in the midst of restarting after an auto-update. Now, whenever I try to boot, I either get a “\system32\ntoskrnl.exe is missing” or ntlnr (not sure if that is exact), is missing. I have a homemade boot CD that I used to put windows on in the first place, and I’ve used it to run recovery to no avail, nothing from the F8 boot menu seems to work either…Suggestions?
P.S. Data loss is not an option for me, or at least a huge disaster.
