Bootable Discs (discs, images)

How do you make an exact copy of an original bootable cd? How about copying all the contents and burning them as data disc in Nero?

I tried that it didn’t work. i wasted about 3 cdrs. What about making an iso image? Is there somewhere you must specify that it must be bootable? Please help!
