Breaking an old password protectected WinXp pro

My neighbor came by with a lenova T61 that was used at a local High School. They sold off these to get new one in Sept. These units were on a network so you had to do Alt,Ctrl,Del to logon with your password.
Can I have some expertise in changing so my nieghbor can enjoy his newfound joy
