browser problems

I have a Sony VIAO networked with a Hewlit Packard. While surfing the web on the sony about 75% of the time when I click on a link I’ll get URL can’t be found, page cannot be displayed,or some other blank page. Is it a problem with Windows XP or is the browser corrupted. I use a local ISP provider and I have called them and they tell me that no one else has this problem
