Browsers Crashing in Vista SP2

Recently both Firefox AND IE 7 (7.0.6002.18005) are crashing. IE continues to display “Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage” . After I close it, I get the Windows message” IE has stopped working” with the option to close the program. Exactly the same thing happens with Firefox – EVERY TIME! It is very annoying, waht to speak of the fact that I now CANNOT access the web in any way.

Please advise.
