Building A Career in IT

I have recently ben thinking of how best to advance my career in IT. I have had 7 years experience and desire to move on to the IT Management stage. I initially thought of an MBA,but most MBAs’ do not have any content on IT Management. I have been advised to combine an MBA with ITSM.
Is this okay or are they any better suggestions?
