Building a SOC with OpenSource tools

Hi,
Was trying to find alternatives to existing SIM solutions that could be used to implement Security Operations center like Arcsight, Symantec SIM, RSA Envision etc.

OSSIM is a nice product but lacks speed, realtime alerts and ease of implementation…

Any better solutions?
