The result of passing Senate Bill 88 and Assembly Bill 60 makes all software programmers in the state of California non-exempt and must be paid overtime. The company I work for has made my entire programming staff hourly workers that now must ‘clock’ in and out via a time clock. They are no longer saleried employees and have lost all flex time benifits. HR informed my group that this was the only way they could capture overtime hours worked.
How have other companies within the state implemented compliance. Are your programmers still saleried? Do they punch a clock or fill out a time sheet? My programmers would rather have the flextime back and comp time. They are looking for other jobs. I need to know how other companies have handeled this change in law…..
