Cable Modem Sharing

Hi experts, I am using a cable modem with 3 pcs (hub). I want to use ICS, Will I need a crossover cable to connect the PC1 (either from modem->pc1 (nic1) or Hub->PC1 (nic2)? or both ways patch cable will do the job? Or if I use Sygate or Wingate with 2NIC’s is there any difference? Your help will be much appreciated.
