Can Browse but can not join a Win2k Doma

Domain is Win2k. Server is DC running Sp2. Mixed clients NT4/ 98/ Win2k-Sp2. Win 2k clients cannot join domain. Win2k clients are currently configured as belonging to workgroup with same name as domain. Can browse all resources on Lan including server, shared printers etc.. When attempt to join the domain we get an error message “domain name path not found”.
