Can I move a BDC to the internal network

I am currently setting up a MS proxy environment. I have set up the proxy machine, and have attached the interal card to a hub. I then moved a BDC and a client machine to the hub. I was hoping the BDC would validate client logons and thus I couldtest the User permissions I’ve set up on proxy. But when a client logs on from a client machine, it says a DC can not be found.

I can log on as anyone in my domain onto the BDC itself though. In addition, when I open User Manager for Domains on the BDC, the list is empty, saying “a DC could not be found” Is this list not alterable on the BDC and therefore, does not appear? When I open Server manager the BDC appears as a BDC and I get the error message “a PDC could not be found”.

Every node on the hub has been assigned a valid internal IP address. All machines can ping eachother. Do I have to promote the BDC to a PDC to get my environment up and running? I thought this would be straightforward becasue I know the PDC delegatesthe task of authenti
