I am a retired vocational electronics instructor with over 10 years experience in PC hardware and software support. I am 66 years old. I have worked as an IT contractor since I retired in 1997. I don’t like contract work. I would rather have a permanent position where I can build relationships and show an employer what I can do.
I would like to know what IT areas I could concentrate on for gaining permanent employment? I am concerned about wages.
I have the skills to support PC hardware, software, and peripherals. I can troubleshoot a Microsoft network from a PC technician’s viewpoint. The only server experience I have had has been in the training classroom. I hold am MCSE (NT-4) and Microsoft Windows 2000 server certificate.
I have not made a concerted effort to secure more contractor work since I started operating my own service business in and around my home town. It takes a long time to grow a stable business, and in the meantime, I would like employment.
