Can Win 98 workstation screen saver effe

I have a friend at his work, he got the below email.

“For those of you with a screen saver in operation, please disengage it immediately. I have been informed by several experts that our NT net work does not like them, and they could be causing some of our server problems.”

I have never run into this problem on remote machine screen savers effecting a server. Is this something, I should change on my LAN setup? Explain how can remote machine screen saver with power management off effect server operation?
