Can XP Office Pro be used on a Vista Home Premium version OS

I have been unsuccussful in getting a clear cut answer to this seemingly simple question i.e. Will xp office pro run on vista OS. If yes but…. Is the pain of yes but easier to swallow than the cost of a new office suite?
