Can you help me with an e-mail problem?

I have an XP lap top. When I send out e-mails to my address list, it arrives with the sentences being separated an inch or more and most of the words shifted over to the left side. I have been told it could be a outlook express problem. I don’t use outlook express for e-mail, I use internet explorer.
