Can’t Access Samba from Windows

by mcarrara . Updated 24 years, 4 months ago

OK after many hours of trying many things I still can not access my Samba server from any Windows machine. I’m sure I have missed some simple configuration.

Server is running Red Hat 7.2
Samba version 2.2.1a
SMBD and NMBD are running as daemons

I can ping the server from a Windows machine using both the name and IP address.

I am using encrypted passwords

I have tried both user and domain security

All tests in the diagnosis.txt file run EXCEPT when I try to access the server from Windows. From a command prompt I get System Error 53
The network path was not found. Using Network Nieghborhood I get the same error, network path not found.

I can see the server and the comment in both network neighborhood and Server manager. I have added the server to the domain and joined the domain from the server.

What am I missing
