Can’t load KDE on remote display, XDM

Mandrake 9.1, KDE. For some strange reason I am unable to run KDE on a remote display. There are no restrictions on client access. I can launch diskdrake, XFDrake etc through XTerm. However, when I connect to the XDM session KDE loader flashes and only the desktop launches which displays my wallpaper. Following message is in messages. xinetd[11938]: warning: can’t get client address: Transport endpoint is not connected. I can forward and reverse lookup the client from the server & KDE loads locally. XDM is configured the same as my firewall (mandrake 9.0)
