Can’t view Free/Busy info

When trying to schedule a meeting in Outlook 97, the attendee’s Free/Busy info is unavailable (diagonal lines across the whole bar.) Exchange 5.5 w/ SP3. Every user’s info is like this whether they have appointments scheduled in their calendar or not. Any help would be appreciated.
