Card Reader Data to SAS/SQL Data base

My unit handles several transactions in an old fashioned way.

For eg: We receive about 40 trucks a day
delivering liqour, chemicals etc. The information is entered in paper once and re-keyed in at several locations. Is there a system to use a CARD (ATM like) so that the truck driver can slide in to down load information about the load. How does one simplify such a system.
