Career Change?

I am currently working in a Help Desk position for a consulting company here in the NY/NJ Metro area. I am desperatly trying to get into any Networking or System Admin position but I can’t find anything and the company I work for doesn’t have anything. I have a computer science degree, MCSE 2000 and CCNA certs. The Company I work for is going to promote me to a PC tech position but I don’t want to do PC related work. I feel that they are trying to push me towards that direction. I would much rather work in networking but with the lack of jobs I’m starting to wonder if I should completly get out of the IT field. Any Advice in how to get into networking or if I should completely get out of IT?
