Hello everyone,
I have spent several years working in financial services as both a manager and staff person. Along the way I have acquired a variety of IT skills as a necessary part of my job. My primary responsibility over the past several years has been general management rather than IT.
At this point I have no certifications. On the other hand, I have:
– administered a small Win2K network consisting of two servers and twelve desktops
– researched, proposed and acquired server and desktop hardware
– researched, proposed, and assisted in installing and implementing two separate information management systems. One of these allowed the company to reduce its required full-time positions from eight to six
– Developed and monitored financial projections, business plans, and financial reports
– Supported hardware and software for my office.
I think have a pretty good knowledge of IT management in a small setting, but this knowledge is more wide than deep.
Questions:
– For what kind of positions should I look?
– What would be the best certification to pursue first?
Many thanks for the time.
Eric
