CD/DVD isnt recognized but driver is fine

by geofffox89 . Updated 16 years, 5 months ago

Hi, Im having a bit of trouble with my new (two months since I bought it) Presario CQ50 Laptop, with Windows Vista as the operating system. Up until about a week ago, I was able to insert CDs and DVDs and then run them without difficulty. However, now I can insert them into the machine, but the laptop doesnt recognise that a CD is in, and apparently the drivers are all working properly.

Ive tried uninstalling and reinstalling the drivers, nothing changed, and I tried a system restore from two different points, and it was cancelled after rebooting due to an unspecified error. Can anyone help me?

Here are my drivers, if it helps:
disk drive: ST9250827AS ATA Device;
DVD/CD-ROM Drive: Optiarc DVD RW AD-7561S ATA Device)
