CD rom not recognized

I have thinkpad R30 which I changed the HD from working T23 thinkpad after formating the HD into the R30,I tried to install win xp pro. but the cd is not recognized through the BIO’S,the HD is good and working fine on the t23.
Is there any way i can make the bio’s to recognized the cd,i have tried to press F2 and dell at boot but all I get is blank screen with flashing cursor which you cant do anything with.please help
