Change of department name-threat or blessing?

In the near future our department will get a new name, one that already seems to have been decided upon by the higher echelon without consulting us. We feel that the new name is too limiting, i.e. it is not fully reflecting the work that is being done by our department. We do webdevelopment, but also run the whole internet infrastructure, database administration, and we produce software.
Our fear is that with the new name, the rest of the company (a consulting company) would see us only as webdevelopers, while we can do so much more to support the other departments.

What would be your advice in this matter?
