Child Domain email

Help!

This is the scenario:

Win2k Server
Exchange2k Server

Root domain xyz.com
child domain abc.xyz.com

Internic registered domains

xyz.com
abc.com

We want the users in the child domain abc.xyz.com
to have email that displays joe_smith@abc.com

We have setup the mailboxes and an smtp virtual server for the abc.com domain, but are having some directory and permissions problems.

Any ideas or resources that can help?
