Cisco certification CCNA

Hi all I’m a student at College of San Francisco, I’m trying to get a AA degree on * Computer Networking and Information Technology, so I decided take my mayor on Cisco Network + college certification on Routing and Switching (Cisco), this certification also prepare for Cisco certification CCNA, I want to switch my job to IT, so do you think this is a good step to start?, this certification can help to find an entry level job?, what are yours recommendations?
