ColdFusion Report Builder query

I have text display problems when outputing 4000 caharacters of text from an Oracle database field into a CFR form. The problem occurs when i output to Adobe ACrobat Reader (PDF) Format. It truncates the text to around 3860 characters; Yet, when I output to Word, (RTF)the trucation does not occur. Has anyone experienced this problem and if so found a work around? I am begining to use sub-reports but this is a last resort.
