colour setting in xwindow system

Whenever I open netscape in my x-window system, I get a warning that configuration is there for 4 colours only, and try some option with startx command. I have tried it
.But with no result.
Is there a way to configure it from within the x-window system.
I have a 14″ colour monitor, which works perfectly well in windows.
