Computer Information Systems Degree?

I was hoping to find coments on the value of a CIS degree for a network administrator. I plan on going back to school soon and have found many employeers of Network Administrators asking for CIS degrees.

My question is why would an employeer want a programmer to maintain the network? Wouldnt someone with an Information Technology degree or Network Administration degree be more suited?
