There is a thread currently running concerning converting old records to CD. I have, not only records, but also 8-tracks and cassettes that I am converting. My problem is that with many (actually most) of the 8-tracks, the magnetic tape is still good and will play just as it did 30 odd years ago but the aluminum tape that holds the ends together and signals the player to change tracks has lost it’s grip. Consequently, the effect is that of a broken tape. Does anyone know of a source for this tape, or any kind of glue that would work to reattach the conductive tape that holds the ends of the magnetic tape together? This is a small piece of tape about 1/2″ inck long and the same width as the magnetic recording tape. It takes nothing more than lots of time and patience to disassemble and reassemble the cartridges.
