I have a Dell Lat D505, have always used the internal Broadcom 1450 mini-pci card for connections. I recently switched from my Linksys router the Verizon provided Actiontec M1424. There a 5 pc’s in my home, 4 are wireless. All but this one can connect flawlessly to Actiontec router. The D505 can get a IP address, use IM clients – but NOT connect to internet. I tried connecting to a neighbor’s Actiontec (same setup) and had no problems. Could also connect to any other wireless available. So I tried using a USB Wireless device on the D505 – no problems connecting. I have upgdated firmware on the router, updated drivers on the wlan mini-pc card, rechecked all configuration on the D505 to make sure it matches settings for other laptops that work, and spent 2 hours on phone with Verizon tech checking modem/router settings, all with no success. I know that I could set the Actiontec to a bridge mode, and reconnect the Linksys, but why? There are no apparent reasons for this to happen. I did notice that the internal LAN was only getting an 18 – 38 Mbps speed on connecting, but that is not something that should make a difference. Anyone have a suggestion?
