Connecting a Dlink Wireless Router to a dlink AP

by fruitbat83 . Updated 17 years ago

A friend has a dlink DSL-904 ADSL Wireless Router. However, the Wireless signal drops when he moves into his garage so he bought a Dlink DWL-7100AP wireless access point to boost the signal.

He’s got into a tangle and asked me if I can sort it out. I’ve had a look, but I can’t get the DWL-7100AP to ‘talk’ to the 904.

I’ve enabled DHCP on 904, should I assign the 7100AP a static IP address or allow the Router to assign one to it? The 7100AP has three options “AP Repeater” “Access Point” and “Bridge”. I would imagine I’ll need to use “AP Repeater” to get it work?

Any one any suggestions?
