Connection problem with DOS Application

I just bought a new DELL 1.3GHz,128MB RDRAM with integrated NIC machine, Win98. I use it to run a DOS-based database application (on a NT server) from it but I am experiencing weird situation that the program hangs while I try to run some complicated reports. The older computers (266 to 866Hz) has no problem running this program at all. I have put the same autoexec.bat and config.sys setting to new computer. What else can I try?
