Contract Firms

I am just geting started in the IT field and have very little experience. I have my resume out there but realize that the key to a job is expereince so haven’t gotten much response. I was recently contacted by a Analyst International but I’m afraid that going there would be a mistake at this point. Are Contract firms a good way to get started in the field?
