I’m an experienced American IT professional who very much wants to start contracting outside the United States. I’m looking to gain international experience and work with professionals from other countries.
Most of the online information pertaining to Americans working abroad suggests targeting English-speaking countries, provided you are not fluent in a foreign language, which I am not. I’ve initially targeted the U.K., Australia, and New Zealand, but am very open other ideas.
I’m curious to know of others who have successfully made this transition and what your recommendations are with regards to countries to target, tips about obtaining the necessary visa(s) and permit(s), etc.
Any help will be greatly appreciated. If you know of any recruiting agencies or contacts, those would be appreciated as well. 🙂
