Controlling Dataprobe through Dial Up

I could log into the dataprobe through hyperterminal, and switch the ports from A to B,a nd vise versa, however I want to be able to run a program from my windows environment that would provide a menu similar to the following:

1) Press A to switch to side A
2) Press B to switch to side B
3) Press C to get status of the switch
etc)…..

I was able to accomplish the above with a batch file while directly connected to the switch, but can’t seem to be able to do it thru dialup. Could someone please point me in the right direction.
