Crystal Reports – how do I hide details that have a subreport?

I have a report that lists associate records which includes a hidden subreport in each record. But now, I don’t want to see the associates records, just the aggregates of their supervisor totals as though the report was about the supervisors’ performance. I’m using CR 2008. If I hide or suppress the detail, I loose my subreport data. If I don’t hide the subreport detail section but instead trim it down, I still end up with huge spaces between supervisor records.
