Database Administration career

I am a Graduate student majoring in Computer Systems with concentration on Database area. I am interested in pursuing a career in Database Administration area. I am currently taking a MCDBA – Microsoft Certification on Database Administration, to get get certified in the area. However, i am not sure how i should start my career in database area. Should i look for a job directly as a DBA or should start from another track? Please help….
