I am trying to install SuSe. I am new to Linux and this the first OS that I am trying to install. I get to the point to where you have to select resolution and color and I select No X11 Config. I then finish the install and get to a prompt and log on as Root user. I know how to do this from a friend. I then start xf86config and go through the config selecting mouse and keyboard and then get to the video card. I am using a Radeon 64MB DDR ATI and it is not listed. I was told to VESA and it is not listed. I have selected several different video cards and I have tried to install atleast 15 times and I am not successful. I finish the xf86config and type startx and I get the following message: /var/X11R6/bin/X and /usr/X11R6/bin/XF86_xxxx are not link. Please them or rerun the XF86Configuration or reinstall server-X. The xxxx above are exactly what it says. There is a question in the xf86config that asks if I want to overwrite a file as the last step and I say yes. I am I doing something wrong. I doing to complete install that takes 5 disks. I am desperate for some help. I cannot get any help from Suse web site because I do not have the registration number. I got it from a friend that has moved on to better things. Please give me some details on what to do. If do not do no X11 config, my screen goes black and I have to start over. Please give me an email address to communicate with for help.
