Default User Template from Admin. Profi

by jnunez . Updated 25 years, 8 months ago

Hi, I am currently working with Windows 2000 Professional. From within the Administrator account, I installed serveral applications, shortcuts, and configuration setting that I would like my default users to have. As instructed from Microsoft, I went to my computer, right click for properties and select the “User Profile” tab. I then copied the administrator profile to the default user profile. Once the transfer completed I closed all windows.
From there I open explorer to compare file sizes between the Administrator profile and the Defaulter User profile. I was amazed on the findings, The Default User profile file size was about 5 meg. and the Administrator Profile was 200 meg..

1. I would like to know, am I forced to load the DefaultUser ntuser.dat hive into the Registry and make manual change to match the Administrators ntuser.dat file?
2. If I copy the contents of the Administrator profile and paste it into the Default User profile, Will it corrupt the ntuser.dat file in the Default User profile?

I would appreiate any help on the above problem. Thank you in advance.

Joseph
