Deleting invalid computers in Active Directory

I know I have numerous invalid computers showing up in AD and would like to delete them. Over time computers have had W2k or Wxp reloaded and the machine name changed without removing the original from the domain first. Is there a method of telling whether or not a computer is a valid machine on the domain without having to to a sight inventory? I have over 1300 computers on our domain.
