Dell Inspirion 600m Screen divided

Power up my laptop, notice the bottom third of the screen is discolored and the mouse arrow cannot be seen below the divide of normal screen and distorted one. I am not much of a tech guru so I have no clue. Any help is appreciated, and ironically my warranty expired.
