Desktop PC Power Supply

I bought a laptop a little over a year ago because my desktop PC was dying. I am not sure that I had transferred all the files from the desktop however shortly after I got the laptop the power supply on the desktop died. Is it possible to plug the HDD from the desktop into my laptop somehow to retrieve any files that are still on the desktop PC??
