Desktop shortcuts in Local Admin profile

by it_staff . Updated 17 years, 2 months ago

Domain environment – Win2003 with 28 XP machines in our computer lab.

Here is my dilemna. I have a shortcut to one of our private I.T. shares (that we install software from) in “C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\Desktop.” This shortcut is only used to prepare the machines before cloning, etc.

I made sure that this shortcut is NOT present in “C:\Documents and Settings\AllUsers\Desktop.” The crazy thing is that ANY student who logs in with their account still gets any shortcut I have placed in my local Admin desktop. All students have “Restricted User” status.

What gives? Where else could these icons be generating from? The share is password protected but I would still rather prefer they not even see the shortcut at all.

Thank You in advance
