DHCP client services will not start

I have a problem with a NT4 server. the problem is when a client workstation has dhcp option eneabled the client cannot browse the domain, however the DHCp manager shows the client has been leased the IP address but the DHCP client services will not start under services showing the “Error 2140 – internal NT error”. Can anyone shed any light on this?
