DHCP on PPP Adapter

by matt.wong . Updated 25 years, 11 months ago

I’m running DHCP on my Windows NT 4.0 server. When a Win98 client connects to the network, everything works fine. I do a winipcfg and all the settings (IP, Subnet, WINS, DNS (2 current servers))and 7 day lease information for the NIC look correct. When a Win95/98 client uses RAS to connect to the network, the IP, Subnet, and WINS are assigned correctly to the PPP adapter, but DNS shows listings of old DNS servers (in addition to the current ones). Also, “Lease Obtained” and “Lease Expires” are showing the same date of 01 01 80 12:00:00 AM.

Any ideas why the lease information shows Jan 1, 1980 when using dial up, but has the correct date when on the LAN?

Any ideas why my old DNS servers in addition to my current ones are showing up when using DHCP with RAS but not on the LAN?

Any help would be gladly appreciated.
Thank you.
