DNS problem

I’m running on a LAN whether most of workkstation are Win98 and all the Windows system able to ping to each other using name.But unfortunately my Linux redhat8.0 was unable to ping to other workstation base on name but it can ping via the IP address.I’m suspecting this is due to DNS problem on my bindconf.How to configure it,for etc.
Domain=abc.com.my
IP address=192.168.253.55
Linux machine name=Linux
Pls advise.
