docking stations and wireless enviros

I have a new dell inspriron 4100 that operates in an wireless environment. I also have a docking station that I cannot use because the internal network card constantly overides my instructions to access the wireless card. Any software out there thatwould help rectify this problem….in case you can’t tell, I am not an IT person- so answers a 6th grader could understand would be most helpful!!!
