Does your dept. require Noncompetes?

My name is Bonny Georgia, and I am a freelance technology journalist on assignment for Network World. I’m researching the subject of non-compete clauses in IT departments for a story that will appear in Management Strategies next month.

Does your IT department insist that new hires sign non-competes? If so, why? If not, why not?
