Dual Monitors Dual PC’s

by kenneth.hogan . Updated 17 years, 4 months ago

I have 2 Samsung 24″ T240 monitors capable of 1920 x 1200 resolution. I have a desktop (HP Compaq Windows Vista) and a Dell Latitude laptop (Windows XP Pro). I am also using a Belkin Flip KVM switch to switch between computers. I am using a GXT USB 2.0 VGA Adapter to run the second monitor directly from the USB ports on either the laptop or desktop. My problems are: 1) I can’t get the 1920 x 1200 resolution on the second monitor. I think it has to do with the limitations of the USB port (I can only get 1680 x 1050 with a lot of shadowing when moving windows)and 2) I have to move the USB cable from the laptop to the desktop and vice versa when I want to switch. The KVM button switches the keyboard and mouse and first of two monitors.

I tried the Matrox Dual head2go Digital and it wouldn’t work through the KVM. I need a solution that gives me the 1920 x 1200 resolution on the second monitor as well as the first without having to connect USB cables each time. I also want to see the laptop screen as a third monitor.

I’ve been asking questions for 2 months and have yet to get a working solution. I hope someone can recommend a product in the $200- $300 range.
